Understanding Feng Shui |
Yang Overload
If the nursery is too busy, too bright, too active, the energy is disturbing. If the nursery crib is placed near or adjacent to the door, the energy is too active. If the room next to the nursery radiates noise from computers, televisions, stereos, there will be an imbalance; even baby monitors disturb the principle of sleep.
In Search of Yin and Yang
Gliders, rockers and ottomans create the peace and relaxation of Yin. The gentle motion is as soothing to baby as life in the womb. Chi is important to mothers and babies while nursing. Nursing stools have adjustable positions and angles for the nursing mom. There is harmony in color, and color is light. Light is an essential element of balance. Different types of lighting (natural daylight and overhead, table, and night lights) are needed for different times of the day/night.
Choose products of nature rather than synthetic products. Nature sound CDs contribute to environmental harmony. Smell is an element of feng shui, especially chamomile, lavender, rose, and vanilla bean. Fragrances from potpourri or scent machines strengthen the peaceful energy of the nursery. Try terra cotta rings saturated with fragrant oils, resting over the bulb of a dresser/table lamp for soothing fragrance whenever the light is on.
